Tutors at an outdoor discovery centre in Port Talbot have had a taste of stardom after featuring in a children’s TV programme.
Staff at FSC Margam, run by the Field Studies Council (FSC), have been featured in an episode of ‘Time for School’ called ‘School Trip’ which recently aired for the first time on children’s channel CBeebies.
The documentary series produced by Sixth Sense Media is aimed at capturing the excitement of school life and FSC tutors were filmed leading a range of outdoor activities for pupils from Birchgrove Primary School in Swansea who were visiting the centre on a school trip.
Jane Richmond, head of centre for FSC Margam, said having a film crew on site was a fantastic experience for all involved and made the trip even more exciting for pupils.
Our tutor Rhian was an absolute superstar and was featured doing all sorts of woodland activities with the children including making various items out of leaves which they had collected. It was fantastic to watch the final programme on TV and seeing how excited the children were during the visit was just wonderful. For many of the pupils it was their first ever school trip so the fact it was also featured on TV will make it all the more memorable for them

Margam Discovery Centre is set in 850 acres of parkland which has a varied landscape featuring woodlands and an abundance of wildlife areas – much of which is featured in the programme which first screened on August 26 on the CBeebies channel and is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
The estate has a rich history and the discovery centre is an award-winning state-of-the-art, low carbon footprint building designed by the Welsh School of Architecture.
