This weekend course offers teachers the opportunity to improve their skills in providing high quality ‘first hand’ outdoor fieldwork. It will focus on preparing students for the non-examined assessment (NEA) component of the A-level Geography qualification, but also introduce skills that can be applied at GCSE level.
The course runs from Saturday 7 September to Sunday 8 September. Overnight accommodation is included on Saturday night. Meals are included on Saturday evening, Sunday morning and lunchtime. Please bring a packed lunch on Saturday. If you wish to stay on Friday night, please contact the centre directly.
Throughout the course, participants will gain practical experience of planning and carrying out Geography fieldwork data collection, research and investigation, designed to support specification requirements. We will discuss the use of statistics and also demonstrate how apps can be used in the field. This course is offered in partnership with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), as part of their Data Skills in Geography Project, funded by Nuffield Foundation. See www.rgs.org/dataskills for further details. The course is subsidised by the FSC and the RGS-IBG Data Skills in Geography Project.
