Professional Training Opportunities for Undergraduate and Graduates
The FSC offer over 300 courses to individuals every year across a wide range of natural history and environmental subjects. Many of these courses are aimed at professionals and students in environmental disciplines who which to improve or develop their skills in taxonomy and field work skills.
Any University students who attend a field course at an FSC centre as part of their degrees are entitled to a 50% discount on selected courses.
Young Environmentalists Grants are also available to young people (16-25 yrs) in financial need to attend selected natural history courses.
Careers with the Field Studies Council
The Field Studies Council is one of the leading employers in the Environmental Education sector. Many of our teaching staff start their career with FSC via our trainee tutor scheme. This runs once a year with up to 20 trainees being appointed, after a 2 day assessment and interview. The programme will usually start in late October, and run for 13 months.
Undergraduates are able to undertake long or short work placements with the FSC.
We offer a one year work placement every year for up to 20 undergraduates across a selection of our centres throughout the UK, which runs from August to August each year.
Millport Field Centre offers summer work placements for students from London Universities. Slapton Field Centre and Slapton NNR also offer short work or research placements.
